Annual Events the Chamber of Commerce to host.

The Monroeville/Monroe County Chamber of Commerce staff and board of directors are always working to support the business community, promote Monroeville as a tourist attraction, and to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Monroe County. Throughout the year the Chamber sponsors many events and programs. The following are some of them scheduled for the 2021-2022 year:

·     April Walking Tours: Every Saturday in April at 10am, the Chamber participates in the Alabama Tourism Department’s April Walking Tours. Community leaders lead free tours lasting approximately 45 minutes through the historic downtown district.

·     Monroe County Youth Ambassadors: In April, the Chamber chooses outstanding high school juniors and seniors to serve as ambassadors for the Chamber, City and County.

·     Annual Chamber Membership Celebration: On May 13, the Chamber will celebrate the Monroe County business community with a reception at the Shop at 66. The networking event will feature music, food, networking opportunities and promotional items.

·     Summer Drive-In Movie Series:  Every Thursday in June (3, 10, 17, 24), the Chamber will coordinate drive-in movies beginning at dusk at the old VF Dye House lot. Admission is free to view the family friendly movies.

·     Monroe County NCPRA Rodeo: The Chamber and the Kiwanis Club of Monroeville will host two nights of fun for the whole family at the Monroe County NCPRA Rodeo August 13 and 14 at the Frisco City Park. Gates open at 6pm with the rodeo beginning at 8pm. Professional cowboys and cowgirls will compete in a NCPRA-sanctioned rodeo.

·     Monroeville Job Fair: In October the Chamber along with the Monroeville/Monroe County EDA and the Monroeville Career Center host an annual job fair. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect job seekers with potential employers.

·     The Taste of Monroeville: November 4 at the Monroeville Community House, the Chamber will host the annual Taste of Monroeville. The event that benefits a local Monroe County charitable organization, features delicious food from local restaurants, live music and community fellowship.

·     The Monroeville Market: The Monroeville Market (November 13) is an annual event on the downtown square featuring live music, food and retail vendors. Many downtown businesses will have extended hours and special promotions during the Market.

·     Annual Christmas Parade: On the first Saturday in December at 10am, the Chamber will sponsor Monroeville’s Annual Christmas Parade. The parade takes the traditional route through downtown Monroeville.                       



As well as the above listed events and programs, the Chamber also sponsors many business workshops and networking opportunities throughout the year for the Monroe County business community. The Chamber recently held a ribbon cutting for the grand opening of new business Glow Therapy Clothing. Glow Therapy Clothing is a women's clothing boutique located just seconds from the Downtown Historic Square at 68 South Alabama Avenue. The Chamber recently held a ribbon cutting for Ikner's Bait & Tackle. Ikner's Bait and Tackle is conveniently located at 1197 Highway 84 East in Monroeville. They are located in the former J.J.'s Bait and Tackle store and is now owned by Tammy Ikner. The store offers bait and tackle, propane, snacks, and much more!
